COUNTING ART VENUES
Today and yesterday have been giant flyer missions. We are scrambling to let 5,000 people and their friends "know" about FORT. We ordered from Miami Flyers the quality of the printing was better than imagined so we were excstatic. We recieved our 4x6" postcards with a week to go before the show so, we have a LOT to do. We will see how the flyering effort will pan out.
We ran into our neighboor Carl outside the 555 Gallery and found out they are having a film festival on the same night of the opening. This is good because there will be a crowd at 555 but it also means a lack of parking for our lovely guests, who we will have to send to U.S. Auto across the street.
Also going on in Detroit this coming weekend is the Hamtramck Blowout which will bring music appreciators to the D. FORT once apun a time (1998) went there. But there was ice on the ground and our fake id's were not good enough, when you look 13 you look 13. Braces and pig tails, broken knees from soccer and sailor coats that are too big (this look will never get you any where even if you are 18 or 21).
Yesterday while flyering up and down the streets of Ann Arbor MI. we stumbled into The Gallery Project, they currently have a show up called:Beauty/Sublime/Intensity. (Questionable) The show is a mesh of sculpture, painting, and mixed media art which focuses on innovative uses of materials. Tons of eye candy. The Ann Arbor Art Center has a show called Drawing into painting. The materials were well used and the content was basic colorful abstractions.
More Flyer Adventures on the campus of Wayne State, U of M, and beyond to come..."that's all folks"--porky pig
